Film „Kwaidan“, który swój tytuł czerpie od archaicznego japońskiego słowa oznaczającego „opowieść o duchu,“ prezentuje adaptacje czterech ludowych opowieści. Biedny samuraj ożenkuje się dla pieniędzy z tragicznymi skutkami. Mężczyzna uwięziony w zamieci zostaje uratowany przez Yuki, Snieżną Pannę, ale jego ocalenie wiąże się z ceną.
